How to fix copper pipe leak?

I have a 1/2" cold water copper pipe leaking in unfinished part of basement---it is hard to fix as there is a 3/4" hot water pipe crossing under the leak--which I think caused some of the problem. My son (I am 69 yr. female) is coming next weekend and will replace it. Until then he told me to cut garden hose and fix it---that worked with clamps--slight drip--but last night it stopped working. The only hole I can see in the pipe is a small one on the bottom of horizontal pipe--I think it started leaking again because hot water pipe caused the area around hole to give. I also had to wrap the top and bottom of pipe with hose to stop leaking--just the bottom didn't work. I am afraid to use epoxy as it will adhere to the pipe below it. Last night I bought a repair clamp with rubber gasket---it didn't work at all--I am not sure--but water seems to go up the sides of rubber and drip from the top. Any ideas would be great as I have to keep turning water to house off and on.

ok i have tryed all of the following and they are ALL crap. don't try to argue with me because i have tryed them all exactly how they say to use them; roughen surface, let sit for however, mix, ect and still they all are terrible: JB weld two part epoxy, JB weld metal to metal putty, gorilla glue(sucked the most), two part gorilla glue, rhino glue, locklyte metal and concrete(which i was surprise didn't work, krazy glue, and ive tried sauntering too. all of them broke off over time and im not using them for anything extreme at all. Anyone know of a glue they used that they were literally not able to pull or break apart? preferably metal to metal and dont suggest welding

ill do my best to help you. no do not put flexwatt tape inside of the viv because the animal ( you didnt specify what you had ) could come into direct contact with it..even tho you think its impossible, thermal burns are nasty and yes felxwatt needs air. 5 degrees isnt much but then again i dont know what animal you have so im going to assume its temprature delicate to be on the safe side. i would say get some aluminum tape and tape it to the bottom but since its wood, lets not. if all you tried isnt working what you could do is get the smallest avilable ceramic heat emitter and place it over the hide box, depending on how close the hide is to the top of the viv, if its too close it will over heat, otherwise it may be an option. sorry if it didnt help, i use flexwatt on my snake racks i dont have a viv. good luck

i have posted a few questions here an yahoo answers regarding this fear i have of dying and there being nothing after for eternity, but none of the answers have really done it for me. I am 16 and was born into a christian family and attended christian school, and had no worry about where i would end up after i die. i remember one day in 8th grade i thought what if we get bored in heaven? what do we do after doing every possible thing there is to do? this was not a problem until i began to think that there could just be nothing after death. the thought of having nothing ahead of me nothing. nothing to look forward to, and more importantly nothing i can do to avoid this. this thought used to only come in small amounts until one night about a month ago. after this nights ive been having anxiety attacks a lot throughout my days. it has become an obsessive thought to the highest degree i have experienced. I now have thoughts that everything is meaningless, and it is hard to find motivation when i realize that nothing i do can avoid death. my life will become an infinitely small blip on the timeline of my existence. there are ties when i can believe in my religion ore cope with this, but I really need more than just "the Bible says..." I wish there was some kind of proof that there is something after. Its getting to the point that I am considering seeing someone or getting some kind of medication. I really feel hopeless and out of options

You should look into West Systems for resins and epoxies and also construction techniques. I would also suggest buying a set of plans. These show you how to loft the design into the required pieces or shapes. I did have a friend that built his own boat and actually made many of the curved pieces by steaming them and slowly bending them. They can also be made up of more then one piece scarfed together making the curve. The hull itself is drawn in such a way that when you transfer the flat drawing onto a pattern you can then take that piece and when you attach it to the frames it forms the correct hull shape.

How do I repair a crack in my fiberglass boat hull?

The lovely ice storm this year did a wonder to my '89 DynaTrak. The drain hole filled with ice, and despite the boat being covered, water got into it through a few holes in the cover. The boat had about 6 inches of water in it when I broke the ice out of the drain hole with a screwdriver. The ice pushed out the transom, and I now have about an 8-inch crack along the bottom edge of the transom. Is this a job for standard Marine-Tex epoxy (which I've used to patch scraps and knicks before) or do I need something else?

Main drain - Gunite pool leaking 3" every night!?

Our gunite pool is leaking 3" every night. Ruled out skimmer basket, the 5 jet pipes (whatever they are called), ladder and pool light. The pool has drained below all these and still leaks average of 3". Im assuming main drain but how can we tell if it is the actual pipes or the seal around the main drain? We had someone come out and say that that he believes its just the seal around the main drain and it can be easily fixed with epoxy....he didnt do the expensive scopes though. Anyone seen or heard of something similar before? I realize i have to pay the big bucks to have them scope to find out the problem but i dont have the extra cash to do that or fix the pool at this point.

Is it safe to place a car on 4 jack stands?

I will be removing all 4 brake calipers on my car so that I can clean them and paint them using caliper epoxy paint. I must remove all 4 at once because the epoxy (G2) only allows me 6 hours to apply it. My advice would be to stick with the type of paint you used for the base coat eg... if you used enamel then use enamel clear coat. Then apply 5 or 6 even coats of clear allow to dry for 48 hours. Now gently rub the tank back with 2000 grade wet and dry sandpaper. How Do I / Can I Solder Together Piano Wire?

Ive been trying to join Piano Wire (Tempered Steel) end to end into triangle shapes, so 3 pieces of piano wire per triangle obviously. This is for a sculpture i am trying to develop. Problem is i cant figure out a way to join these wires. I tried soldering however i cant find any form of solder or flux that will bond them (usually it just breaks or slides off when cooled). I tried welding grade epoxy and it slid right off after drying. I don't have access to welding equipment which i feel is the answer to this problem. I also cannot resort to bending the wire around itself or wrapping wire at the corners of the triangles because i need the connection to be more or less unnoticeable for various reasons. I've been wasting money on this for about 2 weeks now, does anyone have any ideas of solutions or on soldering for piano wire. Thank you!

Do I need to use a wood hardener when using Bondo to fix window rot?

Yes, I would recommend a wood hardener. It makes the mushy part solid again. Of course you could just dig out all the mushy wood and then bondo. I don't believe the hardener does anything to prevent further rot except seal it in. By the way Bondo is not an epoxy filler, but a polyester resin. It will work fine to fill but you should definitely paint it thoroughly because it will absorb moisture.

PPG Non-Sanding Epoxy primer?

I recently bought ppg dp90lf epoxy primer, but on the can it says non sandable. I was always taught you could sand epoxy primer but that was DuPont. Can this stuff actually be sanded when using it as a primer over bare metal? Or do i need to buy something else to spray over the epoxy primer before applying base in case there is orange peel in the original epoxy primer coat?

Gorilla Super Glue or 2 part epoxy...?

I like JB Weld and Gorilla glue (not together), but you need something with which to clamp the pieces while they set. If you have such a thing, my preferences in order would be Jb Weld, Gorilla glue, epoxy, super glue. I've found that JB Weld tends to work regardless of the surface, gorilla glue works best when it has something to grab onto (wood grain, semi-porous plastic/sanded plastic, etc.), epoxy is kind of picky regardless and super glue is worthless for lasting repairs to anything.

Fuel smell through air vents?

I have a 1990 corolla seca. I was getting a fuel smell on and off through the air vents and discovered my fuel pump was weeping slightly around the seam (mechanical type driven off cam) I stopped the leak with some epoxy fuel tank repair stuff. You probably need to adjust your truss rod and/or lower the saddles. the Gauges of the strings will affect your action and your truss. Its all about counter-balancing string tension. If you have a bridge that's set up for trem you will need to adjust the springs in the cavity, especially if its floating. You will need some tools for this, and knowledge, and you might as well take it to a pro if you don't know what you're doing. Focus on finishing it and getting the cosmetics, electronics, feel, etc. exactly how you want them before you start messing around with the setup.

I just got a Zoo Med floating betta log today. I noticed some sharp edges so I began to file it. I noticed in some areas the foam core became exposed. The exposed areas have strong chemical odor. I do a fitness boot camp three days a week, and at the boot camp we will usually work everything, but the workouts are always changing so I can't target everything I want.
