Epoxy painted bath tubs, do they last?

is it worth the cost of having my pink bathtub painted with epoxy (by a professional) vs. installing a new tub, money is always an issue but I don't want have it look like its been painted or have it start to chip, stain or scratch anytime soon, anyone ever have it done or have any stories to share from others who have done this?
