for iron oxide which is magnetite how to calculate the carbon needed for reducing.as far as i know 1 mol of carbon 12 grams and 1 mol of iron 55 grams.so in my calculation you would need 1.33333 mol of carbon for reducing 1 mol of iron oxide.this is if you turn carbon to carbon monoxide from air not from ore.than it reduces iron oxide to free iron and becomes carbon dioxide.so in this case if you turn carbon to carbon monoxide with the oxygen from iron oxide than would you need 0.666666 mol of carbon?thank you for your answers
