Repairing a cracked teapot handle and still be food safe?

i picked up a ceramic teapot at a garage sale and noticed that the base of the handle had a crack/chip all the way through to the inside of the pot. its an amazing teapot and i really want to make use of it. is there anyway to repair it safely/non-toxicly and seal it completely without it leaking? ive read that Carnation Milk can repair ceramics and china but ive also read that you can use epoxy but then it is no longer food safe. please help! my research had come to a dead stop.
