Help with Epoxy chemical?

My father has been sick the last week due to exposure to the substance Epoxy. He has been coughing non stop, and can't seem to sleep very well. I'm wanting to know if this sickness is likely to become more severe or if it will die down? I also read that Epoxy may cause an allergic reaction and is a source of occupational asthma. I also read that it increases the chances of cancer. I just worry because it's hardly ever that my dad gets sick. Should I worry? Please someone help me understand.
