How can I permanently join 2 metal strip framed pictures together into a diptych?

I have tried using automotive epoxy but the frames flex and the epoxy doesn't hold because the surface area is too small (I would guess). Some of the pictures are 20" square or more. The joining has to be permanent. I need advice and ideas because there is an art exhibition coming up very soon. Thanks in advance.
