Can i make a master model out of clay and then put some kind of epoxy over it to make the Master mold.?

I going to have a go at making a 1/25 scale model of a Scammell S24 lorry , and i will have to do it in parts . and i don't know how to go about making the master of it so i was thinking clay for the master .
